We weren’t gathered to play poker, but it was a full house all the same for the annual holiday luncheon at the club Dec. 13.

Braving snow and high winds, about 60 club members gathered for lunch catered by Sweetwater Catering before getting down to play.

Making all that happen was the hospitality committee of Jeannette Aspenleiter, Janice Smolinski, Catherine Francis, Patti Grannis, and Mary Ann Voorheis, who did a great job setting up, decorating and cleaning up. And a huge thank you goes out to Nancy Fowler for the beautiful poinsettia.

In the Open Game 16 teams competed, with Mark Hess and LaVonne Reed taking first in North/South with 72.32%. East/West partners Janice Smolinski and Jeannette Aspenleiter topped the board with 57.44%.

There were 12 teams in the Under 200 Section, with Becky Bills and May Lou Dinon taking top honors with 65.5%.

This was the second holiday gathering as Bernadette and Don Burkhardt graciously held a cocktail and hors d’oeuvre get together at their home after play a week earlier, on Dec. 6.

For all our members who found themselves in the warmer climes during these two events we hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year – and we’ll see you in the spring.
