The Petoskey Duplicate Bridge Center (PDBC) is organized and operated for charitable and educational purposes.  By bringing people together to learn and play Duplicate Bridge, it provides opportunities for mental stimulation and social enrichment for senior citizens in the Northwest Michigan counties of Emmet, Charlevoix, Antrim and Cheboygan.

Learning to play Duplicate Bridge develops the cognitive knowledge of probability, prediction, inductive and deductive logic and facilitates application of this knowledge while playing bridge with other learners.

The PDBC’s cadre of bridge teachers uses multiple teaching methods which demonstrate and apply an understanding of different learning styles.  Methods include didactic instruction, inferential instruction using a problem-solving approach, and guided exploration for individualized instruction as well as for both small and large-group instruction.

The PDBC creates a caring bridge community which promotes and supports the growth and well-being of those who gather at the Petoskey Duplicate Bridge Center, an accessible, safe and comfortable facility.  All adults and youth are welcome to participate.  Built in 2009 through the generosity of Jean and Shirley Carpenter and of nearly 100 other donors, it includes an open room that comfortably seats over 100 players, a kitchen, classroom and rest rooms.

The PDBC is classified by the Internal Revenue Service as a not-for-profit public charity via the IRC Section 501(c)(3), thus making contributions made to the organization tax deductible.  The EIN of the corporation is 26-3656174.

Our mission is to use bridge as an educational tool.  By teaching bridge, through formal instruction and providing opportunities to play, we teach discipline; motivate academic, professional and other achievement; foster positive social skills; and empower both youth and adults to succeed.

Winter Closing Policy

We are closed when Petoskey's North Central Michigan College campus is closed.  You can check their webpage here.

Zero Tolerance Policy

We are a welcoming community, a mix of novices, intermediates and advanced players who respect each other and grow through our common interest in the world's finest card game. We compete hard, but we enforce the Zero Tolerance Policy. We don't allow bad behavior, but rather we try to advance each other's understanding of the challenges and satisfactions of the game.
